The Sundae Ensemble

Introducing The Suzette Sundae Ensemble! Formed in 2018, this four-piece ensemble will transport you to a romantic 20th century nightspot, with its at once relaxed and swinging readings of classic standards.

Suzette’s expressive and evocative vocals are reminiscent of such 1940s and 50s singers as Keely Smith, Jo Stafford, Peggy Lee, and Patsy Cline. Her voice has been described as “truly authentic” in its vintage sound. She draws inspiration from old Hollywood movies, dusty LPs, and her affinity for 1930s costumes and cocktail culture fanfare.

The band features the extraordinarily innovative playing of Jeff Lampert on steel guitar, an instrument not traditionally associated with jazz. His incredibly fluid eloquence, and precocious approach to harmony, give the ensemble a sublime feel and a curious esoteric element that can’t be experienced anywhere else.

Jonathan Heagle’s masterful guitar craftsmanship, firmly rooted in the style and sound of classic 1950s bebop, creates an extravagantly soothing river of aural decadence in tandem with Jeff’s pedal steel stylings.

The band performs regularly, at both Manhattan locations of the Royalton Hotel. (See dates here)
